In March, for the "open doors days" at school, I made this :



Basically, a Text-to-speech robotic voice is reading posts from the awful teens-oriented french blogging platform Skyblog.
The faces are from Youtube vloggers. I make them "talk" by using only the few video frames where they open the mouth, and mapping the opening of the mouth with the amplitude of the robot voice.
Creepiness ensues.




The same idea has then been used for my Big Final Work, mapping an eye blink from Fernand Léger's Ballet Méchanique with the amplitude of high, mid and low frequencies.

It's actually called Sumotori Dream, but my title is more accurate ;)

It's a tiny (96kb!), pretty ugly, and mostly silly game (for Windows).
The aim is just to make the other player fall to the ground or step outside the circle, and that's everything you can do.

At the end of each turn, the players have to bend for greet. It's carried out by a clumsy AI and ruthless physics.

Hilarity ensues.

so they're going to make a movie adaptation of the (boring) Halo videogame

i don't care much about that movie, neither am i quite optimistic about it
but it's a good opportunity to talk about the director they choosed (or, well, the latest name announced, after a looong series of other names)

Neill Blomkamp, native from South Africa, but based in Vancouver
he's not really well-known, although you might have seen his work a couple of times
in the Citroën C4 ad with the transformer dancing to Les Rythmes Digitales

now this doesn't garantee at all that the Halo movie will be a great movie (in my opinion it's even not a good videogame :p)

i recently mentioned to some of you an (old) album of covers of Starway to Heaven "in the way of" other musicians.

thanks (again) to WFMU's Beware of the Blog, i found it back, along with MP3s !

so this was the album in question : amazon link (that i don't get paid for :( !)

and a super-giant post from WFMU's with almost 100 versions of the song, including the album's ones
my favourite being "Beatnix" (à la Beatles) and "Rock Lovesters" (B52's, yeah :D)
