MOTOR - Sweatbox

music: MOTOR - sweatbox
tags: abstract, acidhouse, electro, for:blackmoth, for:kant312, for:psykolio, hypotic, klunk, motor, music, repetitive, sweatbox, videos, visualization, vitalic
I love it for 2 reasons
1) It's one of those hypno-repetitive electro tracks like Vitalic's La Rock or, to a certain extend, T. Raumschmiere stuff
2) Totally abstract sound visualization (that doesn't look like a windows media player preset)... it's exactly what i'm working on those days (and i'm due to post you videos before the end of the month)

music: Les Rythmes Digitales - MDC Vendredi
tags: aliens, halo, johannesburg, movies, neillblomkamp, robots, videogames, videos
so they're going to make a movie adaptation of the (boring) Halo videogame
i don't care much about that movie, neither am i quite optimistic about it
but it's a good opportunity to talk about the director they choosed (or, well, the latest name announced, after a looong series of other names)
Neill Blomkamp, native from South Africa, but based in Vancouver
he's not really well-known, although you might have seen his work a couple of times
in the Citroën C4 ad with the transformer dancing to Les Rythmes Digitales
or this semi-viral video that was around 3 or 4 years about, about a "Third World Robocop"
( more under the cut )
now this doesn't garantee at all that the Halo movie will be a great movie (in my opinion it's even not a good videogame :p)
(oh and the executive director is Peter "3 hours" Jackson)

Sheena is a Parasite (see icon)

and Chris Cunningham is back, with that anticipated video for a "The"-band (The Horrors) he found on Myspace (so Myspace isn't actually useless crap ?)

it's short, but energic
the cut contributes greatly to this (as usual in Cunningham's work)

it feels a little.. goth, too.. isn't it ?
it's not that surprising, after all
do you remember what he did for Auteur ?
and Placebo ?
and Madonna ?
Chris must be a closet goth, or something like that ;)
anyway, here's the LINK : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZMrwZIt OGE or http://videos.antville.org/stories/1428 557/
(the QT version doesn't work for me...)

i discovered it by chance on
plastic_bat (via friends of friends, you know)
so obivously R. Kelly tried to make an "hip-hopera" last year
basically, it goes like this (copy-pasting from plastic-bat's entry)
"BITCH MOVE!!! she moves, and then, he looks at the cabinet,
he walks to the cabinet, he's close to the cabinet, now he's opening the cabinet."
you see ?
but it wouldn't be that great if there wasn't V I D E O S !

The Wikipedia entry about that masterpiece has links to all the videos
you can also find them (an multiple parodies) on YouTube
i watched chapters Nine, Ten and Eleven
of course, South Park had to do something about it : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hT6yhrTp 8WM&search=Trapped%20in%20the%20Closet%22
it made my day
